Rajan Soni is the founder & CEO of Vanila SmartHomes, a Smart-Home products brand based in India. Rajan Soni was born in Udaipur and studied Electronics Engineering from the University of Southampton, UK.
Rajan started his Engineering career with a Bachelors of Engineering degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Southampton, UK in 2012 and then subsequently a Masters of Engineering with Honors from the same University in 2013.
Soon after college Rajan started working at Qualcomm UK Ltd as Junior Engineer in 2013, which he shortly left and returned back to India in 2014. Since 2014 Rajan has been undertaking management at Soni Marbles, Udaipur as a Partner in the firm.
In 2016, Rajan started his first internet venture called Meritlist.in; an app based entrance exam preparation platform which adapts to individual students using complex machine learning algorithm. The MeritList system used machine learning algorithms like clustering and regression to design 15-minute practice sets specifically chosen for each student. The startup failed to hit the market and was shut-down in early 2017.
In April 2017, Rajan made his first Angel Investment in Carpathy.com, an online car service booking platform which offers Carpathy-managed workshops for all major brands. Carpathy has operations in Gurugram, Delhi and Jaipur.
Rajan started Vanila SmartHomes LLP in December 2017, with the Vanila Smart Doorbell; an internet enabled doorbell which streams live video to the Vanila app and allows Audio communication between the bell and phone.
